What should I wear?
Dress code is cocktail, we suppose? We will be in the speakeasy at Golden Road brewing, which is a little fancier than the pub. We'll be playing games, but there will also be plenty of space to sit down and rest. Use that information as you will!
Will there be food and drink?
You betcha. Expect dinner and bottomless Golden Road beer (and wine and a few cocktails). And cake! There will be cake.
where do we park?
There is almost zero street parking, but the valet at Golden Road is $5 for their very safe lot.
May we also suggest an Uber, Lyft, or designated driver? Safety first, y'all.
should i bring my dancing shoes?
If you want - there will be some music if you choose to shake your tail feather. Helen & Jon will be chowing down, beer tasting, playing games, and whooping you all at beer pong for most of the night, though they might join in if the dancing gets going.
what else should i bring?
Your A-game, for a round of bar trivia.
we're from out of town. Where should we stay?
We recommend the Embassy Suites Glendale. There's no block - just get a room. For a great discount, sign up for Hilton Honors.
On the fence? This might change your mind: there is free breakfast + free happy hour.
OMG I can't wait to instagram your wedding.
About that. Please take all the photos you wish during the party. With that said, we're going to ask everyone to put the phones down for our ceremony (don't worry, there's going to be a pro there to make sure we have photographic evidence).
what should we do while we're in lA?
Glad you asked! Here are a few of our favorites.
Helen recommends:
Ye Rustic Inn for beer, wings, and a dive-y good time
Blossom in Silverlake for amazing vietnamese food
Mignon (or its closer cousin, Papilles) for french food, unusual wines, and a little romance (order the oeufs en cocotte and the sparkling red)
Griffith Observatory for hiking and stargazing
The Getty & the Getty Villa for art and gardens
Downtown LA to see another side of the city (trade secret: you can take the elevator to the top of City Hall for great 360 views)
Jon recommends:
The Federal for a great brunch deal and bottomless mimosas
Phillipe's for the original french dip
Barnsdall Art Park for Friday night wine tasting and food trucks
